What to expect
This is a unique trekking experience and incorporates two very special minority villages. The first village is Ban Khoang, home to the Red Dao minority. Ta Giang Phin is predominantly Black Hmong. The trek through Ta Giang Phin is essentially a big loop of approximately 6km. The ground is fairly level and most of the walking is trail passable by motorbike. This is a quiet trail, with few visitors. Many of the minority families in this area are quite reserved and unfamiliar with western visitors, so cultural sensitivity is essential. It is certainly off the beaten track. There are few amenities along this walk, so be sure to pack everything you need.
On a hot day, there is an opportunity to swim in a mountain stream.
