4. Wild apple wine / San Lung wine
There are two famous wines in Sapa, namely, wild apple wine and San Lung wine, all of which are brewed from the fruits and ginseng. Wild apple is made from brewed Sapa’s wild apples and loquats. And the San Lung wine is brewed alcohol with yeast and few ingredients of The Red Dao.

So, when leaving Sapa, do not forget to buy these two wines as gifts for your friends and family. Wild apple wine is easy to find in Sapa markets. However, with San Lung wine, you will need to go to San Lung village in Ban Xooc, Bat Xat, to enjoy and buy the bottle of this kind of wine here.
5. Muong Khuong chili sauce
This specialty is made manually in Muong Khuong district – Lao Cai province. Its main ingredients are the chili fruits here which have distinct flavor compared to the chili of other regions. Muong Khuong chili sauce is made from local high-quality chili pepper with garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, cardamom seeds, cinnamon, salt, wine, water and other ingredients. Its spicy can “make up” your lips and make you cry as child!

If you traveled to Sapa but forgot bringing this kind of chili sauce home as a gift, that would be one of your biggest mistakes in the trip! You can buy Muong Khuong chili sauce at specialty shops in Sapa or Sapa market for 35,000-40,000 VND / bottle.
6. Wild pear and wild apple
The early September is the beginning of season of Sapa’s wild pear and wild apple.
It’s a mistake if we don’t put Sapa’s wild apple in the list of specialty of Sapa . However, in Sapa’s jungle, there’s not many places that have this kind of tree. In Sapa, they appear only and very few in Hoang Lien National Park and are often collected at the early of the season by the Mong people, so the quantity is not much. Most of wild apples that are sold in Sapa now taken from Van Chan or Mu Cang Chai in Yen Bai province. The quality of wild apples in these regions are considered as apples in Sapa.

When buying Sapa’s apple, you should choose yellow ones with slight leaves, these are ripe enough to eat; or you can buy the apple cider vinegar or apple wine instead.
You can buy these fruits at Sapa Market and the stalls near the church.
7. Sapa’s plum and Sapa’s peach
Sapa’s plum is a kind of fruit, it’s blue, but when ripe, its color will turn deep red. Sapa’s plum has sweet taste. They are planted a lot in the area near by O Quy Ho pass and you can also find out the trees around Sapa town. Plum season is around May, same time with Sapa’s peach season, the price also changes through years, about 20,000-50,000 VND / kg.

Sapa peaches are collected and sold in the bamboo basket by ethnic people along the roads near by Sapa Church for about 30,000-40,000 VND/1 basket.
