We did a 2 day trek with a black Hmong guide and stayed at her house. She picked out great treks for us and we were lucky and had amazing weather in March (20 degrees, sun). On the first day we went to the market in Sapa and after a 2,5hrs trek we had lunch with a local family. After that we did another 2,5 hrs trek to our host’s home. There we cooked together and had dinner. On the second day we did a 4h trek and had lunch at a homestay, which was more of a hostel. Be aware that the living conditions are very rudimentary but this was one of the most impressive experiences for us and the people at Trekking Sapa as well as the guides and families were amazing at all times.
