Expand All Day 1: The night train to Lao Cai station
20.00pm – TrekkingSapa’s tour guide come to pick you up from your hotel then transfer to Ha Noi Railway Station and catch the night train to Lao Cai (overnight on the train, the cabin with 4 berths, soft sleeper and air-conditioning). Arrive Lao Cai 5:30 or 6:00am.
Sapa is the focal point for mountain travel in Vietnam, and is a riot of colour and atmosphere as people from the myriad ethnic minorities of the hills gather in the markets.
The ‘Flower Hmong’ wear rainbow-coloured smocks, while the Red Dao’s traditional costume is a more muted indigo but topped off with a bright red headdress. When all of the mountain people congregate, the result is a feast for the eyes and the senses.

Sleep on Train Day 2: Lao Cai – Sapa – Ma Tra & Ta Phin villages
The train arrives at around 6:00 am. Look for the “Trekking Sapa’s Logo & Your Name” sign when you exit the train station, as our guide will pick you up there and transfer to the former hill station of Sapa. In the terraced hills and mountains of this area, the expansive green landscape is enlivened by the colors of its hill tribe population – flashes of shining silver jewelry from the necks and wrists of indigo-clad H’mong and the scarlet hues of the turbans worn by the Red Dao can be seen.
It is here you will find hands stained with color from fabric dyes and shades of blue, red and green intricately embroidered and stitched into jackets, waistcoats, pants, skirts, caps, purses and leggings.
After having breakfast at local restaurant, meet your guide in the morning start trekking from Sapa to Ta Phin valley. Walking through the town for about 20 minutes before turning to a dirt road to Ma Tra Village, where inhabited by Black H’mong ethic. Continue trekking up the village and getting through paddies fields will lead you to an ancient Catholic abbey, built by French colonists.
Walk 2 km more to reach Ta Phin Village for exploring the daily life of Red Dzao. Here you have a good choices to buy woven and textile brocades, which is made by ethic people and having picnic lunch before exploring village and Ta Phin Cave and small hamlet of Black H’mong people. At the end of day, return to Sapa by van with group to check in to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure for explore the town, its market and sloping streets with all the colorful handicrafts. Rest of the afternoonand evening at leisure.

Get up in the morning for breakfast and check out the hotel room, your bags will be put in the hotel luggage store again. Meet your guide in the morning and depart on a second trek from the town of Sapa to Golden Stream valley. Today’s hike offers more stunning views of rice terraces and gardens as well as Mt Fansipan, whose summit rises 10,312 feet (3,143 meters) above sea level.
After crossing a suspension bridge, marvel at the breathtaking scenery as you continue through the Golden Stream valley, stopping at Lao Chai village for lunch.
After your meal, follow your guide on a walk through this village where Black Hmong people reside, and continue on to Ta Van village, home to the Dzay tribe. This part of the hike is relatively easy, though the trail can be quite slippery if it rains, so good footwear is recommended.
You’ll visit with some local families and learn about their daily lifestyle and fascinating culture, before departing to the main road to meet up with your driver and return to Sapa. Rest of the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore the town on your own.

I call it a trekking paradise, not only for the experience trekkers but also for the people who prefer moderate level of difficulty in trails. The areas are mountainous and that is the charm for sure. One advice, don’t go trekking without a guide. We have gone through the same path twice, still think that even if we choose the same trails ever again, will need a guide. Our guide was perfect for all he did for us, very helpful guy. He was not the private guide for us, he led a group of 10 travelers. All from the Trekkingsapa . In all, we returned happy from Sapa tour.

They take you off the beaten path, where you feel like you are a welcomed guest. The ladies were kind, very knowledgable and were a true joy to get to know. When taken to homes, they made you feel like you were family. We visited with the children, while our tour guid and her husband cooked us lunch. When I offered to help, she was so kind and stated "no, you are on holiday - you deserve to relax." As for the food that was cooked...absolutely delicous! Reviewed On: Apr 11, 2019Big thanks to Trekking Sapa for making this happen. This was an amazing experience and one that I will dine out on for years. From start to finish it was like the senses just got totally overloaded with sensations. The night train from Hanoi was an experience, when we arrived in the township of Sapa we just had time to shower and eat breakfast then we were off, exploring. The local hill tribe villages are great the scenery is too. Waterfalls and unbelievable green slopes. The local kids were always fun, rushing up to try and get us to buy something. A few had my name by the time we left and would call out Mr. John Mr. John as we walked down the street. This trip was just right, they left the last day free and a group of us hung out together and enjoyed the town before catching the train back to Hanoi.

When the clouds roll in, in the early morning it really does feel like you are almost outside the rest of the world. Crystal clear blue skies above us and the clouds below in the valley looked more like a film set than reality. I have photographs that I will cherish forever. The town itself was good fun, but it is the area around it that gets my vote. Stunning, just stunning. Hard to believe all this is only 6 hours away from my home in Darwin.

I call it a trekking paradise, not only for the experience trekkers but also for the people who prefer moderate level of difficulty in trails. The areas are mountainous and that is the charm for sure. One advice, don’t go trekking without a guide. We have gone through the same path twice, still think that even if we choose the same trails ever again, will need a guide. Our guide was perfect for all he did for us, very helpful guy. He was not the private guide for us, he led a group of 10 travelers. All from the Trekkingsapa . In all, we returned happy from Sapa tour.

AustraliaMy husband and I spent 3 days in Sapa and had the opportunity to do tours with TrekkingSapa.com. TrekkingSapa.com uses local Hmong women, who are fluent in English. They take you off the beaten path, where you feel like you are a welcomed guest. The ladies were kind, very knowledgable and were a true joy to get to know. When taken to homes, they made you feel like you were family. We visited with the children, while our tour guid and her husband cooked us lunch. When I offered to help, she was so kind and stated "no, you are on holiday - you deserve to relax." As for the food that was cooked...absolutely delicous! If you are looking into various tour options in Sapa, stop looking. TrekkingSapa.com was by far one of the best experiences we had in Vietnam. They help the local Hmong community

From start to finish it was like the senses just got totally overloaded with sensations. The night train from Hanoi was an experience, when we arrived in the township of Sapa we just had time to shower and eat breakfast then we were off, exploring. The local hill tribe villages are great the scenery is too. Waterfalls and unbelievable green slopes. The local kids were always fun, rushing up to try and get us to buy something. A few had my name by the time we left and would call out Mr. John Mr. John as we walked down the street. This trip was just right, they left the last day free and a group of us hung out together and enjoyed the town before catching the train back to Hanoi.

When the clouds roll in, in the early morning it really does feel like you are almost outside the rest of the world. Crystal clear blue skies above us and the clouds below in the valley looked more like a film set than reality. I have photographs that I will cherish forever. The town itself was good fun, but it is the area around it that gets my vote. Stunning, just stunning. Hard to believe all this is only 6 hours away from my home in Darwin.

He was fluent in English, punctual, flexible, and knowledgeable about the history of local cultural sites. The vehicles were clean and drivers were safe. The driver was particularly helpful in suggesting places for us to go in our free time. The Meals were acceptable.
