Expand All Day 1: Overnight Train from Hanoi
20.00pm – TrekkingSapa’s tour guide come to pick you up from your hotel then transfer to Ha Noi Railway Station and catch the night train to Lao Cai (overnight on the train, the cabin with 4 berths, soft sleeper and air-conditioning). Arrive Lao Cai 5:30 or 6:00am.
Sapa is the focal point for mountain travel in Vietnam, and is a riot of colour and atmosphere as people from the myriad ethnic minorities of the hills gather in the markets.
The ‘Flower Hmong’ wear rainbow-coloured smocks, while the Red Dao’s traditional costume is a more muted indigo but topped off with a bright red headdress. When all of the mountain people congregate, the result is a feast for the eyes and the senses.

Sleep on Train Day 2: Lao Cai – Sapa – Cat Cat – Ta Van villages
The train arrives at around 6:00 am. Look for the “Trekking Sapa’s Logo & Your Name” sign when you exit the train station, as our guide will pick you up there and transfer to the former hill station of Sapa. In the terraced hills and mountains of this area, the expansive green landscape is enlivened by the colors of its hill tribe population – flashes of shining silver jewelry from the necks and wrists of indigo-clad H’mong and the scarlet hues of the turbans worn by the Red Dao can be seen.
After having breakfast at local restaurant, a short rest and some last preparations before our Sapa trip. You start the trip on foot to explore the Cat Cat of ethnic Hmong – discovered by the French who chose to use the area as a resort in the early twentieth century. Coming to Cat Cat village, visitors will be visiting hydropower station, waterfall of the Cat Cat village, and learn about the culture, customs and unique people here with traditional crafts such as weaving, carved silver, forged agricultural tools, to drag his wife…Continue on to trek along paths to Ta Van village, home to the Dzay tribe. This part of the hike is relatively easy, though the trail can be quite slippery if it rains, so good footwear is recommended.
You’ll visit with some local families and learn about their daily lifestyle and fascinating culture. After check in the room then you have 1 hour party for dinner ( listening to music, enjoy a little wine & soft drinks).

Continue on to trek along wonderful small paths and rice fields and bamboo forests. Passing the rattan bridge and waterfall. Trek further down the Muong Hoa River, you have more opportunities to see ethnic people living here in the Su Pan village. You will take a car from Su Pan village direct to Sapa. Reviewed On: May 08, 2019Great trip! Be advised by a friend, my partner and I decided to book the Sapa trekking tour thru the Trekking Sapa Tour Operator. Everything was far more our expectation. It was AMAZING experience to see the villages, beautiful landscapes, cultures and daily life of people here. When we came, there were a number of little H’Mong kids followed and played around us. They looked very lovely in their colourful and traditional clothes. Moreover, I was rather surprised to realise that some children could speak English quite well, sometimes they asked us few personal questions but they were friendly and always smile. Their parents also invited us to visit their house, and try their famous green tea which was really appreciated. One of the things I loved the most during our Sapa tour was the moment when we took a soft trekking across the terrace fields, small streams in a cool weather and deeply breathe fresh air. It was incredibly peaceful. After all, I would like to say thanks to everyone whom I met, thanks Trekking Sapa Tour Operator, your excellent organization really made our trip memorable and unforgettable

Reviewed On: Apr 11, 2019We were pressed for time on our second trip to Vietnam but determined to get to Sapa this time, even for a day. Overnight train from Hanoi had us somewhat tired and dusty. Met at Lao Cai by TrekkingSapa's car and driver who whisked us off to Sapa where we enjoyed the use of a hotel room for the day - hottest shower I've ever had. We ate breakfast and were met by our guide, Pang who is a Red Dzao. We went off to the Silver water fall and then hiked for four hours off to Sin Chai village. Beautiful trek through the mist and the rice paddies not yet planted. Pang was most informative about the native tribes and the landscape - all delivered with delightful humour and insight. Back to Sapa in the afternoon and Pang even stayed with us through the market and took us to a herbal spa (much needed by then). - thank heaven for Tripadvisor reviews!!!”

"The People are simply wonderful"

Reviewed On: May 08, 2019I have been a keen walker for most of my life, any chance I get I love to be out in the countryside somewhere walking. Getting the chance to do this is Sapa was like a dream cone true for me. The scenery is simply incredible, the people were so interesting and the trekking was not too difficult. The tour was well organised and I wish I had taken a longer one, but there is so much to see and do in Vietnam, it honestly needs more than my two weeks annual holiday to enjoy it. I enjoyed meeting the local people most of all. There are many different hill tribes living in the area and when you just happen upon them on a trek, they are genuinely interested to try and talk to you. Their English skills were actually pretty good at times, and certainly puts us to shame. I’m currently on the train back to hanoi writing this, then it’s a coup[le of quiet days there before heading off to Halong Bay. What a trip.

We used a group called the Asia Tour Advisor and they put us in touch with different companies within their organization. For the Sapa trip, for example, we used their Trekking Sapa site to book everything. It was a very easy process and we had our itinerary all sorted long before we left home. They certainly took the stress out of traveling. My own personal favourite part of the vacation was three days walking in the mountains in the north of the country. The town of Sapa is a great base from which to do this and the guides made sure we didn’t miss a thing. This place is sure different from our home in Chicago. It is hard to believe that unspoilt beauty and indigenous people like this still exist. I would return in a heart beat.

We were very happy to see her home as well. Staying at homestays in Lao Chai and Ban Ho was a great experience. Seeing how local people live gave a good perspective. Foods were delicious and it really was a lot of it! Whole trek was well organised. Another great thing is, that it really has succeeded to upgrade many people's lives in minor communities in Sapa! Reviewed On: Mar 09, 2015We can not say enough about how great our experience Sapa Tour in Vietnam was with TrekkingSapa.com. My wife and I did the Red Dao minority experience. Our guide spoke good English, was attentive to our needs on the trek, she had great insight into the culture and was as sweet as she could be. Our stays, while very rustic, provided excellent food, wonderful hot herbal baths and comfortable sleeping arrangements. The families were accommodating and treated us like family around their table. The trekking was a little more difficult than I had expected due to the mud, steep terrain, and rubber boots - but our guide was very perceptive about when to stop, for how long. I really can't recommend TrekkingSapa.com enough. Not only do they have excellent treks in Sapa Tour but all the profits go back into funding education for local minority children. Winners all round! I asked for the less touristy route and I certainly got it!! I trekked for 55km and saw rice paddy fields, jungles, mountain, rivers, waterfalls and local villages. Pang is an excellent guide and took me along a very challenging route, but I always felt safe in her confident hands. Our trek was interesting. Pang gave us a lot of information about your country. Her English is good. We love picnic lunch in village. The train to Sapa was comfortable. Day use room for shower before transfer to railways station was helful. Reviewed On: May 08, 2015We booked a tour to Sapa from TrekkingSapa.com, and I'm glad we did! Mr Hong was very helpful in organising an itinerary that was a little different to the website ones. We were a bit worried about getting tickets etc for the train to Sapa, however Hong met us at our hotel and had tickets ready for us when we got to the station! He then escorted us into the correct carriage. The train was clean and we managed to get a few hours sleep. Once we got to lao cai, our female guide was waiting for us.Our guide was fantastic and being from the villages was able to tell us about the daily life etc. Sapa is definitely worth a trip, one of our favourite places in the world. The 3 days were fantastic scenery and it is amazing seeing how happy the people are even though they have relatively little! Thanks very much to Mr Hong and staff, in addition to our guide who took great care of us

GermanyGreat trip! Be advised by a friend, my partner and I decided to book the Sapa trekking tour thru the Trekking Sapa Tour Operator. Everything was far more our expectation. It was AMAZING experience to see the villages, beautiful landscapes, cultures and daily life of people here. When we came, there were a number of little H’Mong kids followed and played around us. They looked very lovely in their colourful and traditional clothes. Moreover, I was rather surprised to realise that some children could speak English quite well, sometimes they asked us few personal questions but they were friendly and always smile. Their parents also invited us to visit their house, and try their famous green tea which was really appreciated. One of the things I loved the most during our Sapa tour was the moment when we took a soft trekking across the terrace fields, small streams in a cool weather and deeply breathe fresh air. It was incredibly peaceful. After all, I would like to say thanks to everyone whom I met, thanks Trekking Sapa Tour Operator, your excellent organization really made our trip memorable and unforgettable

SwitzerlandWe were pressed for time on our second trip to Vietnam but determined to get to Sapa this time, even for a day. Overnight train from Hanoi had us somewhat tired and dusty. Met at Lao Cai by TrekkingSapa's car and driver who whisked us off to Sapa where we enjoyed the use of a hotel room for the day - hottest shower I've ever had. We ate breakfast and were met by our guide, Pang who is a Red Dzao. We went off to the Silver water fall and then hiked for four hours off to Sin Chai village. Beautiful trek through the mist and the rice paddies not yet planted. Pang was most informative about the native tribes and the landscape - all delivered with delightful humour and insight. Back to Sapa in the afternoon and Pang even stayed with us through the market and took us to a herbal spa (much needed by then). - thank heaven for Tripadvisor reviews!!!”

New ZealandI have been a keen walker for most of my life, any chance I get I love to be out in the countryside somewhere walking. Getting the chance to do this is Sapa was like a dream cone true for me. The scenery is simply incredible, the people were so interesting and the trekking was not too difficult. The tour was well organised and I wish I had taken a longer one, but there is so much to see and do in Vietnam, it honestly needs more than my two weeks annual holiday to enjoy it. I enjoyed meeting the local people most of all. There are many different hill tribes living in the area and when you just happen upon them on a trek, they are genuinely interested to try and talk to you. Their English skills were actually pretty good at times, and certainly puts us to shame. I’m currently on the train back to hanoi writing this, then it’s a coup[le of quiet days there before heading off to Halong Bay. What a trip.

United StatesHaving just returned from a magnificent three-week trip to Vietnam I’d like to thanks our tour companies for managing to help us fit everything into the time we had. We used a group called the Asia Tour Advisor and they put us in touch with different companies within their organization. For the Sapa trip, for example, we used their Trekking Sapa site to book everything. It was a very easy process and we had our itinerary all sorted long before we left home. They certainly took the stress out of traveling. My own personal favourite part of the vacation was three days walking in the mountains in the north of the country. The town of Sapa is a great base from which to do this and the guides made sure we didn’t miss a thing. This place is sure different from our home in Chicago. It is hard to believe that unspoilt beauty and indigenous people like this still exist. I would return in a heart beat.

United KingdomWe did 3 days 4 nights Muong Hoa Valley-trek in Sapa. Our guide was wonderful, very friendly and relaxed. We had great time with her. We were very happy to see her home as well. Staying at homestays in Lao Chai and Ban Ho was a great experience. Seeing how local people live gave a good perspective. Foods were delicious and it really was a lot of it! Whole trek was well organised. Another great thing is, that it really has succeeded to upgrade many people's lives in minor communities in Sapa! SpainWe can not say enough about how great our experience Sapa Tour in Vietnam was with TrekkingSapa.com. My wife and I did the Red Dao minority experience. Our guide spoke good English, was attentive to our needs on the trek, she had great insight into the culture and was as sweet as she could be. Our stays, while very rustic, provided excellent food, wonderful hot herbal baths and comfortable sleeping arrangements. The families were accommodating and treated us like family around their table. The trekking was a little more difficult than I had expected due to the mud, steep terrain, and rubber boots - but our guide was very perceptive about when to stop, for how long. I really can't recommend TrekkingSapa.com enough. Not only do they have excellent treks in Sapa Tour but all the profits go back into funding education for local minority children. Winners all round! AustraliaWe have just returned home from a trek with our own personal guide Pang of trekkingsapa whom we have booked the tour in Sapa. I asked for the less touristy route and I certainly got it!! I trekked for 55km and saw rice paddy fields, jungles, mountain, rivers, waterfalls and local villages. Pang is an excellent guide and took me along a very challenging route, but I always felt safe in her confident hands. Our trek was interesting. Pang gave us a lot of information about your country. Her English is good. We love picnic lunch in village. The train to Sapa was comfortable. Day use room for shower before transfer to railways station was helful. CanadaWe booked a tour to Sapa from TrekkingSapa.com, and I'm glad we did! Mr Hong was very helpful in organising an itinerary that was a little different to the website ones. We were a bit worried about getting tickets etc for the train to Sapa, however Hong met us at our hotel and had tickets ready for us when we got to the station! He then escorted us into the correct carriage. The train was clean and we managed to get a few hours sleep. Once we got to lao cai, our female guide was waiting for us.Our guide was fantastic and being from the villages was able to tell us about the daily life etc. Sapa is definitely worth a trip, one of our favourite places in the world. The 3 days were fantastic scenery and it is amazing seeing how happy the people are even though they have relatively little! Thanks very much to Mr Hong and staff, in addition to our guide who took great care of us
